Mo Gutta Game:
Mo Gutta Game personally emailed me 2 tracks for review.
The tracks I received are titled "Wake Up" and "On My Own"
On first hearing "Wake Up" my first thoughts were "I'm feelin MGG's voice. It works very well over the beat."
The track starts with the hook and I was instantly nodding along with it. The delivery on this track is awesome and I find myself anxious to hear more.
The track is super-well thought out and the concept is dope. I am hearing the lyrics a little off rhythm but somehow it seems to work. There are little points like "Dig it?" that just make the song catchy and fun. These small but powerful punches make me feel like I already know the song. I dig it.
The second verse comes in beautifully. I am absolutely a fan of this song. I could hear this song on every radio station coast to coast. Now I must say personally this song is not MY style but I most definitely wouldn't turn it off. As an artist and writer I am saying that this song is brilliant. I believe MGG hit the nail on the head with what he wanted to achieve on this song. Props.
When "On My Own" started I immediately liked the beat. Getting a little more into it though, I wasn't feeling it so much. Again though I must say that MGG's voice is perfect for his art. Also though, on this track too I am hearing the lyrics a little off rhythm. I may be trippin.
There is some singing on the hook of this track. I'm not feelin it. Maybe its the voice, but it sounds basic to me. Singing does work well on the track but the delivery of the singing is not as intense as MGG's verses so it doesnt sound right to me. Yeah not a fan of the voice at all. The lyrics and content on this track are on point, however.
My suggestion is find a better voice with more "experience" I guess for the hook. There are many voices out there that would compliment this part of the song very well. I did find myself just wanting to turn it off during the singing. The remainder of the song is good.
I am unable to post these songs by Mo Gutta Game's request.
